Fix Common Issues.

Better Canvas is a magical tool, but sometimes it needs a little nudge. We've prepared this guide based on our experience to help you resolve any hiccups instantly.

Quick Initial Fixes

Start here for 90% of all common errors.

Clear Browser Cache

Old or corrupted cache files can interfere with themes and features. Clear cached images and files in settings.

Disable Other Add-ons

Conflict between UI extensions is common. Turn off other Canvas-related tools to isolate Better Canvas.

Hard Refresh Canvas

Force a full reload of extension files. Use Win: Ctrl+F5 or Mac: Cmd+Shift+R on the Canvas page.

Unable to install Better Canvas

Recommended Fixes:

Not working with Canvas

Refresh the page after enabling the extension to initialize logic.

Themes are not loading

Recommended Fixes:

Navigate to Canvas Dashboard > Themes > Reset opt-in status.

Try clicking 'Use new Browser' in the theme settings panel.

Verify that you are on a compatible course page that supports theming.

Check if another theme is overriding your current selection.

Performance & Stability

Broken Themes or Layout?

When you change a theme, Canvas doesn't update everything instantly. It takes a few seconds to rebuild its internal parts (menus, panels, layout, colors, etc.). If you click around too fast, you might see broken styles.
